still the same...!?

This is an article I wrote back in April,2010, on my other blog that i used to run at the time. I wanted to share this thought once again since nothing has been done on this issue.

No Sea Scouting in Maldives. WHY?

This is an article I wrote back in April,2010, on my other blog that i used to run at the time. I wanted to share this thought once again since nothing has been done on this issue.

I first met a Sea Scout while I was in Narita,Japan in 2004 attending the SAJ 2003/04 INTERNATIONAL SCOUT FORUM, The whole concept of Sea Scouting was new to me then. But as I came to know more about Sea Scouting, I started to wonder why Maldives doesn't have Sea Scouting.

For a country where 99% of its geographical area is ocean,it is surprising that we don't have Sea Scouts in Maldives. Sea Scouting, without doubt would be the best form of Scouting for Maldivian boys and girls. If introduced, Sea Scouting would help the Maldivian Scouts to be more active and would help them in exploring their true environment.

I always believed that experience is the best teacher, And for a growing up Maldivian teenager, there would be no better experience than going out to the sea and exploring the beauty of our oceans.

Lets come back to our main topic, WHY?

I have personally tried to find an answer to this question and the only answer I tend to get is, "Having Sea Scouts is a good idea...". Yes! This is not an answer but a comment, but this is all I get in reply, may it be a parent, scout or leader.

Its time somebody take the lead and propose the registration of a Sea Scout Group to the Scout Association of Maldives.
